Minor Retouching

Minor retouching of a photo may involve adjustment of brightness and contrast values, darkening images that have faded through the years, minor burning and dodging of areas of a photo that are too dark or too light, color adjustment, transforming a sepia-toned photo into a black-and-white or a black-and-white photo into a sepia-tone, removal of minor spots, dust, scratches and stains, resizing, and sharpening of an image.

Minor retouching does not include retouching in detailed areas. Facial areas usually are not retouched in minor retouching except for marks in which there is no detail.

Image 3 Before retouching. After retouching. It varies from photo to photo whether images of this type are good candidates for minor restoration. If too much color has been lost then they are not.
